Glowing Orbs Over the Water in Miami (6 February 2026)

Miami waterfront, Biscayne Bay, Florida  ·  6 February 2026  ·  Eyewitness Footage · USA

A frame from the witness video. Three bright glowing points hang over the dark water of Biscayne Bay, with a lit Miami waterfront, palm trees and a high rise at right. The objects show no visible structure beyond steady points of light at the resolution of the phone footage. (Witness footage by Reddit user Fred_Chevry_Pro, posted to r/UFOs on 30 June 2026 for a sighting they say took place on the evening of 6 February 2026.)

On the evening of 6 February 2026, a person walking their dog along the Miami waterfront filmed several unusually bright lights hanging a few hundred feet over the bay, and said the lights held position for at least half an hour while a handful of other people stopped to watch.

What did witnesses see at Miami waterfront?

The witness wrote that at about 7:44 pm on 6 February 2026 they were walking the dog and smoking a cigar along the water in Miami when they noticed several lights a couple of miles out and a few hundred feet up. The sky was clear. They said the lights were not the usual air traffic, that a handful of other people nearby noticed them as well, and that the objects stayed put for at least half an hour, doing nothing, while remaining unusually bright.

In the footage, taken across the dark expanse of Biscayne Bay with the city skyline and a lit waterfront in frame, the lights appear as several steady white points arranged loosely above the horizon. They do not flash in the manner of standard aircraft strobes and do not visibly move much over the span of the clip. No structure connecting them is visible.

What is the official explanation?

There is no official account of this sighting. It is a witness clip posted to a public forum. Miami’s airspace is among the busiest in the United States and the bay sees frequent helicopter, drone, and small aircraft traffic, but no agency has commented on these specific lights.

What did the witnesses think it was?

The witness was openly uncertain and leaned toward a prosaic answer. Their own best guesses, written into the post, were drones or possibly lanterns, while noting that the lights were brighter than usual and stuck around far longer than they expected ordinary traffic to. They reported that other passers by saw the lights too, which adds independent observers at the scene even though only the one recording exists.

Is the Glowing Orbs Over the Water in Miami (6 February 2026) real? The two-pass assessment

Pass one, the mundane reading. Several bright, steady lights that hover a few hundred feet over open water on a clear evening, hold position for half an hour, and then are filmed as fixed points have familiar candidates, several of which the witness raised themselves. A small formation of drones is the most likely, and Miami sees frequent drone activity over the water; stationary, brightly lit drones holding a loose pattern match the description closely. Chinese sky lanterns drifting on a light breeze can also look like warm hovering points, though they usually move with the wind and burn out rather than holding for thirty minutes. Aircraft or helicopters in a holding pattern, or boats and waterfront lighting refracted over the bay, are weaker fits given the height and duration the witness reported. The long dwell time and steady brightness are the details that most constrain the prosaic options.

Pass two, if it is not any of those. The strengths of the case are an unusually long observation window, several independent eyewitnesses on the ground, and footage that clearly shows multiple discrete light sources rather than a single smear. The weaknesses are that the video gives no way to range or scale the objects, the witness themselves favours a drone or lantern explanation, and only one camera recorded it. With no official comment and no second angle, the lights stay genuinely unidentified, which is what the Unknown tier marks here: a real, multi witness observation of bright objects over the bay whose identity this single clip cannot pin down. A second recording from another vantage on the waterfront, or any local report of a drone show or lantern release that night, would likely close it.
