A frame from the witness video showing a small pale sphere against the blue sky over Ormiston, East Lothian, on the evening of 20 June 2026. A zoomed crop of the object appears below. (Witness footage filmed by the poster's son and shared by Reddit user "Greendreams07," posted to r/UFOs on 21 June 2026.)

On the evening of 20 June 2026 a teenager walking a dog near Ormiston, in East Lothian, Scotland, filmed a small pale sphere moving quickly across the sky from north to south on a breezy evening. The person who posted the clip, the boy's parent, was open about the possibility that it was a balloon and asked for help identifying it.

What did witnesses see at Ormiston?

The witness account, posted by "Greendreams07," is that the poster's son captured the object on the evening of 20 June 2026 at about 8:23 in the evening while out walking a friend's dog near Ormiston. The boy noticed what he thought was a sphere moving quickly from north to south. The short clip, only a few seconds long, shows a small pale, roughly round object against blue sky below a band of cloud, with trees and rooftops along the bottom of the frame. It was, by the account, quite breezy that evening.

The object does not resolve into any structure at this distance; it reads as a small whitish ball. The witness could not give a better description than the video shows.

What is the official explanation?

There is no official account of this sighting. No agency or news outlet has addressed it. It exists only as a single short witness recording posted to a public forum.

What did the witnesses think it was?

The clip was posted on 21 June 2026 to the r/UFOs community on Reddit by the boy's parent, who was candid and measured about it: the son thought the object was cool, could not describe it better than the footage, and the parent wrote that better analysis could hopefully confirm a balloon or otherwise. That openness is worth noting, because the account does not overstate what was seen and explicitly raises the ordinary explanation itself.

Is the A Sphere Over Ormiston, East Lothian (20 June 2026) real? The two-pass assessment

Pass one, the mundane reading. The leading candidate is the one the witness raised, a balloon. A small pale sphere drifting across the sky on a breezy evening, moving steadily in one direction, with no visible structure, is a close match for a stray party or weather balloon carried on the wind. The reported quick north to south travel fits a balloon pushed by a brisk breeze as easily as anything powered, and at this distance and resolution there is nothing in the footage to separate the two. Other ordinary possibilities, a bird catching the light or distant debris, are weaker fits for a steady round object but cannot be excluded from a few seconds of video.

Pass two, if it is not that. If it is not a balloon, what is left is another small daylight sphere of the kind being reported widely at the moment, here moving in a straight line across the sky. The case does not rise above that on its own evidence, and the most economical reading remains the witness's own. It is logged as a fresh, located, time stamped sighting with an honest first person account, and held loosely.

The case is filed as Unknown because no identification has been confirmed, but a balloon is the leading ordinary explanation and the witness raised it first. It is held to that standard and not overstated.
