A Green Object Over Diskit, Ladakh (June 2026)

Diskit, Nubra Valley, Ladakh  ·  29 June 2026  ·  Eyewitness Footage · India

A mildly brightened frame from the witness video, filmed at dusk in Diskit, in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh. A small green point of light is visible against the mountain ridge above the village and monastery. (Witness footage by Reddit user Effective_Floor5170, posted to r/UFOs in late June 2026.)

A traveller staying in Diskit, high in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, filmed a silent green object that whooshed over the hotel terrace in a zig-zag at dusk, held position, then vanished.

What did witnesses see at Diskit?

In late June 2026 a traveller staying at a hotel in Diskit, in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh in far northern India, posted a clip to r/UFOs describing a green object that passed over the hotel terrace. The witness said they were sitting on their balcony when the object went past like a whoosh, moving in a zig-zag, then held position before vanishing into thin air. They stressed that it made no sound and passed directly above the terrace, which they felt ruled out a drone, and noted the mountains are some distance from the hotel.

The footage shows a deep blue dusk sky over the dark ridgeline of the Ladakh mountains, with a Buddhist monastery and village lights on the slope. A small green point of light is visible against the mountains in part of the clip.

The witness did not give a precise date, so the case is dated by the oldest traceable appearance of the footage, the Reddit post itself on 29 June 2026.

What is the official explanation?

There is no official account. This is a single witness clip on a public forum.

What did the witnesses think it was?

The witness described a silent, fast, zig-zagging green light that hovered briefly and then disappeared, and was struck enough by it to film it and ask the community what it was. There is one witness and one clip; no second angle or corroborating report from the Nubra Valley has surfaced.

Is the A Green Object Over Diskit, Ladakh (June 2026) real? The two-pass assessment

Pass one, the mundane reading. A small green point that darts, hovers and disappears at dusk has several ordinary candidates. Insects or birds passing close to a phone lens can appear as fast, erratic specks that zig-zag and vanish, and an out of focus light catching the camera can flare green because of the lens coatings, since green is a common internal reflection colour in phone cameras. A drone with a green navigation light is also possible despite the witness impression, because small drones can be near silent at distance and Diskit is a tourist area with a major monastery. Green fireball meteors burn with the colour of ionised oxygen and flash green, but they last only a second or two and do not hover, so a meteor fits the whoosh but not the part where it stayed in place.

Pass two, if it is not that. For the object to be genuinely anomalous, the controlled zig-zag then hover then vanish behaviour the witness describes would need to be real and not an artefact of a small near object crossing the frame. The clip is short and the object faint, so it cannot be resolved into a definite shape.

Filed as Unknown. This is a thin single clip sighting from a region the English language UFO press rarely covers; the leading ordinary candidates are a close insect or bird catching the camera, a lens reflection, or a small drone.
